Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days per week. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab choice.
