Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days per week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers which provide rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
