Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or a few days per week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities that provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
