Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or a few days each week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which offer treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehab choice.
