LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and considered socially depraved. This is often a very hard and painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug abuse to numb this pain. A LGBT center provides an environment that is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which must be resolved to be able to recover. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case.
