LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially depraved. This can be a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug abuse to alleviate this pain. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel safe in a conventional treatment program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment which can be free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors issues which need to be resolved in order to get better. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients mend relationships with their loved ones, in the event that their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is certainly a frequent trigger for abusing drugs, and is also a good example of an issue that will be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence in order to lead a wholesome life free of alcohol and drugs.
