Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or a few days each week. This can be very helpful for those who have recently completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For a person with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers that provide treatment on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment choice.
