LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially depraved. This is sometimes a very difficult and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of substance abuse to numb this pain. Someone that is LGBT might not exactly feel comfortable in a conventional rehabilitation center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which need to be handled so that they can get better. Rehab counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This circumstance is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and it is an illustration of something which will be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and build confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life clear of drugs and alcohol.
