Criminal justice client rehabs are available being a far better option than incarceration or significant fines for individuals who have already been convicted of any kind of alcohol or drug related crime. For example, someone who has been found guilty of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol may qualify to receive treatment services for his or her problem rather than serving time in prison. The judge may even order that the individual receive treatment, either alone or together with other sentencing. First time offenders specifically will often be given the opportunity choose a criminal justice client rehab as an alternative to other sentencing, and it is highly recommended they benefit from it when it is an alternative. The idea behind criminal justice client rehabs is that it is way more efficient and effective to invest effort and time into rehabilitation than punishment. Much research has been done to see how effective this process is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following rehab. The signs and indicators seem to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients who experience treatment have better chance of remaining out of the judicial system following rehabilitation.
