LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially depraved. This is sometimes a quite challenging and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug abuse to numb these feelings. Someone who is LGBT may not feel at ease inside a conventional rehabilitation center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center offers an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehab counselors issues which have to be handled so that they can recover. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their family, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This circumstance is certainly a common trigger for abusing drugs, and is a good example of something which will be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life clear of alcohol and drugs.
