A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending people who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home will help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home may be involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home to be able to at some time live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work.
