Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may trigger drug abuse, or dangerous sexual behavior due to drug abuse may have caused to contract the sickness. People who have HIV/AIDS, either as a result of their drug use or as a pre-existing problem prior to their substance abuse issue, often require rehabilitation services tailored to satisfy their specific demands and challenges. Some of these problems are physical in nature, due to the fact that substance abusers with HIV/AIDS rarely look after themselves and take the proper medications they need to preserve their health. Consequently, these individuals arrive to rehab in very poor physical shape and this will have to be addressed as a priority whilst addressing other important concerns. Besides the obvious requirement to offer medical solutions during rehab, people with HIV/AIDS also have to tackle more deeply rooted problems which prompted their alcohol or drug use. Often, people have situations within their lives that are purely environmental which may have caused them to use drugs or alcohol, like oppressive conditions in their lives or detrimental relationships. These are the issues which treatment counselors will concentrate on in HIV/AIDS treatment services.
