Self pay is sometimes the only option for individuals who need treatment within a drug and alcohol treatment center for substance abuse but don't have any medical insurance. It isn't uncommon for someone dependent on alcohol or drugs not to have private medical health insurance, as it can be difficult to keep a drug or alcohol habit going while still maintaining work. Individuals may not have private medical insurance to begin with, but can make too much money to qualify for Medicaid which would cover some types of rehabilitation. When someone does have to self pay for treatment and doesn't have private health insurance, it is in their best interests to look into Medicaid to see if they meet the criteria, if they haven't already succeeded in doing so. Luckily, many drug treatment centers will work with folks whose only option is to self pay to make it more possible for them to take part in a top quality alcohol and drug rehab program.
