Offering gender-specific treatment services has proven worthwhile in situations where standard treatment facilities have not meet expectations, including coping with situations within a women's life that are distinctive and traumatic. Such difficulties may have to do with sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and being a mother, and other serious issues which can be particular to women. Studies show that women can also get embroiled in drug abuse more easily than men, and so are more vulnerable to illness due to drug abuse issues than males consequently. Due to duties in their home, women also tend to postpone looking for and undergoing treatment, a situation which can lead to catastrophe. With this in mind, rehab services for women are created in order that a women's needs are the concentration and priority. Much like coed programs, drug rehab facilities which provide rehab services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women give attention to both basic and gender-specific issues who have triggered their drug or alcohol use. Women also utilize the positive support from their female peers, plus some programs that offer rehabilitation services to women also provide client beds for their children.
