Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or several days per week. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers which offer rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab alternative.
