TRICARE is medical insurance that is provided to members of the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers many different rehab services to handle drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People who have TRICARE will obviously need to have a prior authorization before partaking in any type of rehabilitation service, which may be organized with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program could be the preferred rehab option, TRICARE covers 21 days or one inpatient stay in such a program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are particular limits as to the length of time a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very helpful, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled treatment counselors standing by to help today.
