LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially unwanted. This may be a very hard and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug abuse to alleviate this pain. Someone that is LGBT might not feel comfortable inside a traditional rehab program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment that's free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which must be resolved in order to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is certainly a frequent trigger for drug use, and it is a good example of an issue that would be handled in rehab. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life clear of alcohol and drugs.
