Medicare is a form of health care insurance created by the government for seniors, in addition to people with certain disabilities and diseases. If someone who has Medicare needs treatment for instances of drug or alcohol abuse, their treatment will either be covered entirely by their Medicare health insurance or to a great extent. The only real catch is, the person must receive treatment from a drug rehab facility which accepts Medicare. Before the individual will be permitted to start rehabilitation, they will also have to see their physician who must state that treatment services are medically essential, and the physician will typically approve what sort of rehab the individual will do. Medicare Part An and Part B cover a variety of treatment providers. Medicare Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted program when the individual has to be hospitalized for his or her problem, and the costs that they will have to cover personally are identical to every other hospital stay. Medicare Part B will partially cover outpatient treatment in a Medicare accepted center, and the individual will need to cover whatever Medicare Part B doesn't cover with supplement insurance coverage or they'll have to self pay.
