LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is sometimes a quite challenging or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug abuse to numb this pain. Someone who is LGBT may not feel safe within a traditional rehabilitation program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment which can be free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which must be handled to enable them to recover. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in the case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely frequent trigger for abusing drugs, and it is a good example of something would be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life free from alcohol and drugs.
