LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the particular needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and seen as socially unwanted. This is sometimes a quite challenging or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug abuse to numb this pain. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel safe inside a conventional rehab facility amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which should be handled in order to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and it is a good example of something which would be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life free of drugs and alcohol.
