LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is often a very hard and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of substance abuse to numb this pain. Someone that is LGBT may not feel comfortable within a traditional treatment center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which must be handled in order to get better. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in the event that their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for abusing drugs, and is also an example of an issue that could be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence in order to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
