A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending people who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in a group home may be involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at some time live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a feasible short term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together.
