LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially depraved. This may be a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of substance abuse to numb this pain. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel relaxed within a traditional rehabilitation center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing within their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment that is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which should be resolved in order to recover. Rehab counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their loved ones, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is certainly a frequent trigger for abusing drugs, and is also a good example of a thing that would be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
