Offering gender-specific rehab services has proven very helpful in circumstances where conventional rehabilitation facilities have not meet expectations, such as coping with situations in a women's life that happen to be unique and traumatic. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or other really serious issues which are specific to women. Studies show that women could also get involved in drug abuse more readily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness because of addiction problems than males as a result. After this step, counselors help women focus on both common and gender-specific concerns who have brought on their substance abuse.
