LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and seen as socially unwanted. This may be a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to numb these feelings. Someone who is LGBT might not exactly feel at ease within a conventional treatment facility amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment that is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which must be resolved so that they can get well. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their family members, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely frequent trigger for abusing drugs, and it is a good example of a thing that would be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
