Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may set off drug abuse, or dangerous sexual conduct as a result of substance abuse may have caused to contract the illness. Individuals who have HIV/AIDS, either due to their substance abuse or as a pre-existing condition prior to their drug abuse issue, typically require rehab services tailor-made in order to meet their specific demands and problems. Many of these problems are physical in nature, because of the fact that substance abusers with HIV/AIDS very rarely take care of themselves and take the proper medications they need to maintain their health. Consequently, they arrive to rehabilitation in very poor health and this will have to be addressed as a priority whilst dealing with other important issues. Besides the obvious requirement to supply medical services during rehabilitation, individuals with HIV/AIDS will also need to address deeper issues which prompted their alcohol or drug use. Frequently, individuals have conditions within their lives which are strictly environmental which may have triggered them to turn to drugs or alcohol, such as oppressive circumstances in their lives or negative relationships. These are the concerns which rehabilitation professionals will concentrate on as part of HIV/AIDS rehab services.
