LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the particular needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and seen as socially depraved. This can be a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to numb these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel comfortable in a conventional rehabilitation center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment that is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors issues which must be resolved so that they can recover. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug use, and is a good example of something which can be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a healthy life clear of alcohol and drugs.
