A group home for somebody who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home might help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability inside their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside in the group home could be involved in treatment services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some point live independently not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a viable short term option for those who want to get their lives back together.
