TRICARE is medical health insurance that's provided to folks in the military of the United States. Drug abuse inside the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehabilitation services to address alcohol and drug dependence like detox services, and also rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will naturally need to get a prior authorization before partaking in any type of treatment service, which is often arranged using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center could be the preferred rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in such a center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are particular limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy that may be very helpful, as it can help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
