Criminal justice client rehabs can be considered being a significantly better option than incarceration or heavy fines for many who have been convicted of any kind of drug or alcohol related crime. For example, a person who has been found guilty of driving drunk of alcohol or drugs may be eligible for rehab services for his or her problem rather than serving time in prison. The judge may even order that the individual receive rehab, either alone or together with other consequences. First time offenders specifically in many cases are given the chance to go with a criminal justice client rehab as opposed to other sentencing, and it is well-advised they make the most of it when it is an option. The idea behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is way more efficient and effective to invest time and effort into rehabilitation than punishment. Much research has been completed to find out how effective this method is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following rehab. All indicators seem to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients who do experience treatment have a much better chance of remaining out of the judicial system following rehab.
