A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which offers continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending individuals who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in a group home may be getting involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at one point live on their own not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, however it is a practical short term option for those who are trying to get their lives back together.
