Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very useful in circumstances where traditional treatment settings have not meet expectations, for example coping with situations in a women's life that happen to be unique and painful. Such concerns may pertain to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, and other significant issues which can be specific to women. Studies show that women can also get embroiled in drug use more readily than men, and so are more vulnerable to sickness due to drug abuse issues than males as a result. Because of obligations in the home, women also tend to postpone trying to find and undergoing treatment, a situation which can be a catalyst for catastrophe. That said, rehab services for women are designed in order that a women's needs would be the focus and priority. Much like coed centers, drug rehab facilities which provide treatment solutions to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. After this step, counselors help women target both standard and gender specific concerns who have brought about their drug or alcohol use. Women also enjoy the positive support from their female peers, and some programs which provide treatment services to women also provide client beds for their children.
