Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services part-time every day or several days each week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab option.
