LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the particular needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and seen as socially unwanted. This is often a quite challenging and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug abuse to alleviate this pain. Someone that is LGBT may not feel comfortable inside a conventional rehab facility amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which must be handled to enable them to get better. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab can help clients mend relationships with their family, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug use, and is a good example of a thing that can be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and produce confidence in order to lead a wholesome life free from drugs and alcohol.
