Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially depraved. This is sometimes a very hard and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to numb these feelings. Someone that is LGBT might not feel comfortable within a conventional treatment program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment that is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which must be resolved so that they can get well. Treatment counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for abusing drugs, which is a good example of a thing that can be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
