Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis each day or a few days each week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
