TRICARE is medical health insurance which is provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would assume, and the need to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally have to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any kind of rehabilitation service, which is often arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center will be the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits about the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which is often very helpful, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors standing by to help today.
