Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services part-time daily or a few days per week. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which offer treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
