A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a place which offers continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and also have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents within a group home may be taking part in treatment services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at one point live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a feasible short-term option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
