TRICARE covers many different rehabilitation services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally need to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any kind of rehabilitation service, that may be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility could be the favored treatment choice, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which is often very helpful, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
