A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but additionally, there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending people who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in a group home may be getting involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some point live on their own outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a viable short term option for many who want to get their lives back together.
