A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home may help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. Residents within a group home may be taking part in rehabilitation services while in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some point live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a sensible short-term option for individuals who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
