Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or a few days per week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small number of clients. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab centers that provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous treatment option.
