Criminal justice client rehabs are available as being a significantly better option than time in jail or heavy fines for those who have been convicted of any type of alcohol or drug related crime. For instance, somebody who has been in prison for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be eligible for rehab services for his or her problem as opposed to serving time in jail. The judge could even order the individual receive rehabilitation, either alone or as well as other sentencing. The theory behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is far more efficient and effective to invest commitment into rehab than punishment. Much research has been completed to see how effective this method is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the individual returns or not to criminal justice system following treatment. All indicators appear to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients that experience treatment have better chance of remaining out of the judicial system following rehab.
