TRICARE is medical insurance that is provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would assume, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers numerous treatment services to handle alcohol and drug dependence like detox services, and also rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Individuals with TRICARE will of course be required to get a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of rehabilitation service, which can be organized using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility is the favored treatment option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits as to how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which can be very helpful, as it can help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional treatment counselors standing by to help today.
