Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time every day or a few days each week. This is helpful for many who have just completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
