A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending people who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home might help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and support within reach 24/7. Residents in the group home may be taking part in rehab services while in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, but it's a practical short-term option for those who are trying to get their lives back together again.
