Criminal justice client rehabs can be considered as a far better option than time in jail or significant fines for individuals who have been convicted of any sort of alcohol or drug related crime. For example, anyone who has been found guilty of driving while impaired of alcohol or drugs may be eligible to get rehab services for problem as an alternative to serving time in prison. The judge might even order the individual receive treatment, either alone or together with other sentencing. First-time offenders in particular are often given the opportunity to choose a criminal justice client rehab as an alternative to other sentencing, and it is highly recommended they take advantage of it when it is a choice. The concept behind criminal justice client rehabs is that it is far more efficient and effective to invest time and energy into rehabilitation than punishment. Much research has been completed to observe how effective this method is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the individual returns or not to criminal justice system following rehabilitation. The signs and indicators seem quite positive, and criminal justice clients who do take part in rehabilitation have a better chance of remaining out of the judicial system after rehabilitation.
