Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide rehabilitation to handle both addiction and mental health issues concurrently. Dual diagnosis is a very common situation for individuals involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as individuals with mental health issues frequently medicate themselves with alcohol and drugs to experience some type of temporary respite from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help individuals through a detailed rehab plan all geared towards restoring and stabilizing mental, emotional and physical health whilst dealing with drug abuse concerns. Offering a safe and secure environment is essential to ensure dual diagnosis clients can be relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances that may compromise their treatment plan and development. Rehab counselors will continue to work to recognize environmental factors in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or any other things which have to be addressed in order for the person to be mentally stable and sober t when they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehab which helps them develop more effective coping mechanisms so that they are able to better handle life circumstances well when they leave dual diagnosis rehab rather than returning to drugs as an inferior answer.
