LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the particular needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and considered socially unwanted. This is often a very difficult and painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug abuse to numb these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT might not feel at ease inside a traditional treatment program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT center offers an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which must be resolved in order to get well. Treatment counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in the case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug use, which is an example of a thing that can be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and build confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life without any drugs and alcohol.
